Would you put your local police department as your best friend on MySpace?

I just saw a video about a new program to put your local police department on your MySpace (and presumably other platforms) page. As the officer who was interviewed pointed out, it functions as a "beware of the dog" sign for possible pedophiles or other bad guys. How do you react to this idea?
